HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I know. I am late. But I am simply following the example set by Royal Mail, who have also been very late with the post. Pfffftttt.

Moving on..... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It's proper cold out there, but finally some sun after all the Christmas mizzle. I will not be doing a review of 2024 as I am still sore from it. I will, however, confess that my highlight of 2024 was writing 10 days of blog posts. I will let this confession rest before I decide what to do with it.

  1. Happy Yuletide greetings!!!!! I was hoping your were fine and dandy. I ADORE the long legged santa!!!!!! We are expecting out first snow of the winter today. I will wait and see..but it is to be bitterly bitterly cold. I may need another Yule log to burn.

  2. Good afternoon, Mistress M!! I love my long legged Santa, too!
Yep, chilly here as well, but we will mostly be frosty in this part of the UK - everyone else will be turned into snowmen.
    Plenty of Yule logs here!

    1. I received the most BEAUITFUL greeting from your neck of the wood today!! It made my day when I saw the penmanship and stamps. And a little bird...you know me. Thank you dear.

    2. Mistress M - I'm very pleased to read that it arrived eventually!! I have no idea what's going on with our postal service! I shall post the next Christmas card in October!

  4. While your long-legged Santa is fun, the bowl of baubles on the right reminds me that I didn't decant my baubles from their cardboard box and onto the cake stand this Christmas, so I am a little bit huffy now. Huff.
But your New Year photo is stunning, so that makes up for it. (It's hosted by Wordpress, though - how did you manage such technical trickery?)

    1. I apologise for putting you in a huff, Mr Devine!! I did wonders with the baubles, and I made some pretty sophisticated hanging decorations with them - but more on that in December.
Oh, you made me laugh out loud regarding my technical prowess! Remember how I got in a flap regarding photos not being so sharp on Blogger, and how Jon told me how to code my photos to make them sharp for my posts? Well, it was all rather complicated, and it didn't always work for me, and it took up a lot of time, and it made me super huffy - SOOOOOO, I cheated. I publish the photos on a free WordPress site then copy the code from the posts I make there, et voila, super sharp photos on Blogger!

    1. Well, not intentionally, of course. It's just that I happened to right-click to open the photos in a new tab to view at their full-size splendour, and what should I see at the top, but the Wordpress logo! I averted my eye, forthwith, but it was too late. I'd seen it all!

    2. Mr Devine - I will investigate - I didn't know I could do that!

  6. Frosty the snow man
Had to hurry on his way
    But he waved goodbye saying
"Don't you cry, I'll be back again some day"

That's about as festive as I get. Bah Humbug.

New Year's definitely brought the freezing weather in - all our pots were frozen solid this morning (well, the ones away from the shelf outside our leaky single-glazed windows, that is)! Jx

    1. Jon - Thank you for the festive Frosty!! I don't envy you the single glazed windows. So far, so good with my potted plants - but Cornwall and Devon aren't feeling the full brunt of the cold this time, and tomorrow we're getting heavy rain. Ugh.

  7. I think tardiness is a gift you give yourself and I, for one, have no trouble being generous with it.

  8. Mr Peenee - I am of an age now where I realise that rushing forward is simply foolhardy.

  9. It's been a bit topsy-turvy here. Well, I suppose, from your viewpoint, it always is topsy-turvy.Or turvy-topsy? Oh! bugger, I've had a few wines...what do I know about astro physics!
Bonne annee and bottoms ups to all of you

  10. The long legged father Christmas looks very festive but what I want to know and I'm sure a few others do but are too polite to ask is... what's in the cupboard below it? I'll hazard a guess at JAJ pyrex Chelsea pattern cup and saucers. Is that an anomaly in the hedge second photograph?

    1. Mitzi - The cupboard contains something far more prosaic - DVDs. DVDs that I never watch because I can't remember how the DVD player works.
Ah, and sadly not a mysterious anomaly! The green circle is the light from my phone reflecting on the window. I was trying to capture some 70s type light bubbles, but they didn't come out.
      Happy New Year!!

  11. Goodness, Santa's legs look unhealthily thin. And he'll have a job getting down the chimney of that tiny house. Still, I suppose Santa knows all the tricks of the trade.
I hope you had a great Christmas, Scarlet, and I hope the New Year will be more enjoyable than disappointing.

  12. Nick - I've taken all my decorations down and now I feel grumpy! Plus, everyone else has snow whilst Devon has 12ºC and heavy rain. Grrr. SO I AM ALREADY DISAPPOINTED!!!
    Happy New Year!!

    1. No snow in Belfast either, and current temperature of 4C. I'm not keen on snow, nasty messy stuff, so I'm enjoying the absence of the white stuff.

  13. Happy New Year, darlin! I'm stuck somewhere between anxious & stressed and defiant & courageous before the upcoming installation of a dictator here in my country. As much as I love my friends in DC, I hope there's a blizzard on the 20th! xoxo

    1. Savvy - I think we are all stressed about the next 4 years - or for however long the big fat git clings on to power. I have no helpful words, other than your blogging friends are here to listen to your hopes and fears and to distract you when you need distraction.
All the best to you for 2025!

  14. I love the long-legged Santa! So cute! It is always nice to hear from you! That is the most important thing!

I plan to make an effort to finish half started art projects and actually do more art with the horde of bits and baubles I've collected for so long; buying only what is needed to finish projects predominantly containing afore mentioned horde. Perhaps you could do more of your calligraphy and paper crafting this year? Surely, you have an unrequited stash of something around there to dive into!

  15. Thank you, Melanie! And thank you for reminding me about my extensive stash of ephemera that I really would like to do something with.
We can do this together, I need encouragement such as you've given here. I'd like to read more of your stories - and I'd also like to see what you do with your bits and bobs - we can do this, and bring some of these projects to fruition in 2025.
    Happy New Year!

  16. I am all for procrastination, the New Year being a happy one for you, and ephemera. I have a stash the size of an elephant, and it stares at me and makes me feel guilty. Hmph. What would you make?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Apologies, Ms Nations - What would I make? Honestly I really have been pondering that one! I really want to make something but am facing an inner resistance - I frustrate myself so much. Soon, I need to procrastinate a little longer.
Happy New Year to you too - let's hope it's a calm one.
