Finally.....

....some better news! I am now a published author!!!! My wise words are now being spread far and wide courtesy of The Guardian online. Admittedly it is barely a paragraph and just about a sentence - but it has cheered me up.

The article in all its twinkly glory can be found here:- The Guardian.
Now that I am proper famous I am available for further paragraphs and sentences in other publications. Thank you.
Oh, and yes, it is true - my home is strewn with fairy lights from November until the end of March - they are really useful during power cuts caused by relentless storms. I truly am the wise woman of Devon.

  1. HErrgott ! How does it feel to be a celebrity ?!
Well deserved, we always believed in you !

No fairy lights here. Maybe I will light a candle this evening, just so.

    1. Mr Mags - I feel that I ought to send you a box of fairy lights for Christmas, but the postage costs would be crippling.
I know!! I'm a proper celeb now!! All in all it has made me smile - that's enough.

  2. Looks like we have both been now spread far and wide.

And thanks heavens you really were talking about fairy lights...even though I come on at 5pm too, and been told I get twinkly everywhere possible too. How fun Ms Scarlet! Congrats!!! Now a full-on published author and a talented calligrapher as well. It's beside me why Buckingham Palace hasn't scooped you up yet to address the Royal invitations to its events, plus now you can add some sparkle too.

  3. Mistress Maddie!!!! Yes, I was genuinely talking about fairy lights!
By Royal Appointment would be a wonderful strap line wouldn't it? Something to work towards in 2025 I think.

    1. Jon - I will be there lit up like a Christmas tree, I am already working on my acceptance speech for Best Reader’s Tip 2024 - I will thank all my blogging friends for supporting me whilst I dredged my brain for a suitable idea. As always I will remain humble and will supply cake.

  5. I gather you've already been longlisted for the Booker Prize, such is the stunning originality and creativity of your modest novella. Basing the whole narrative on a string of fairy lights is pure genius. All the other authors must be green with envy.

  6. Nick - I think the whole structure of my brain is based on a string of fairy lights, so it wasn't difficult to write about! But yeah, I embrace the envy.

  8. Well done Scarlet! I suppose it won't do any harm if you told people that you write for the Guardian. I hope you don't become too grand to talk to the likes of us plebeians. I don't have fairy lights but I do have a collection of battery operated candles on the hearth and on the living room window sill I have two water filled glass ornaments similar to a snow globe but Christmas tree shaped, filled with glitter that light up and change colour, yes, they do look as common as they sound. I will take a picture of them tomorrow at 5pm.

    1. Thank you, Mitzi!
I really like the idea of Christmas tree snow globes, they might look good on my window sill. I hope you will blog the pictures at 5.05pm tonight? I shall look forward to admiring them.

  9. Does this mean I'm going to have to start watching Strictly again next year? Who would you like to be your dance partner?
Oh, and can you get round Waitrose without being hounded by civilians asking for your autograph?

    1. But your favourite professional dancer is back for this series of Strictly, Mr Devine! I thought you’d be glued.
I should be doing fairy light demos in Waitrose, shouldn’t I?
Meanwhile, Mitzi should be posting her ornamental trees in 5 minutes!

    2. Oh! I forgot Aljaž had returned!!! Who's he dancing with? And are they still in the competition?

I have just been to Mitzi's - very clean and rather lovely.

    3. Mr Devine - He’s partnered with Tasha - she is very good and in with a chance of getting her mitts on the glitter ball.
Indeed, Carol singing at Mitzi’s then? Whip out the octopus sucker pad bath mat and we could be there for breakfast!

  12. I seem to be having trouble leaving comments. Am I being haunted by one of Scrooge's ghosts? Have I had too many Christmas treats and just can't type straight? What the heck! Here's to friends worldwide- Happy Christmas!

  13. I've had fairy lights and assorted coloured lights strung throughout my home for ages. Doesn't everyone? Apparently not. The idea of arranging for them to turn on in the early evening is genius. Well done, Miss Scarlet.

    1. I love fairy lights, Ms Mistress! Mine are in action all year - especially helpful during power cuts so that I'm never plunged into complete darkness.
