Sulking

Apologies. I am sulking. I ran out of heating oil last Monday so my time has been taken by stoking the wood burning stove and glowering at news articles featuring the tangerine twat in the US. I am sure that oil prices are being manipulated and somebody, somewhere, is making a lot of money from the misery - probably someone with limited use of the English language and a satsuma skin tone.

Enough. It is Spring, let us look instead at something pretty, though also orange....

My enthusiasm to get to grips with my posh camera was short lived and this picture was taken with my iPhone. I did download the camera manual, but there were a lot of words and diagrams and my eyes glazed over in the effort to understand it all. I will try again because we will be having some cloudless nights, and that means lots and lots of stars.

Meanwhile, I hope we have a long warm summer so that I can save up for some heating oil for winter. Grrr. I mean, Brrr.

  1. Somebody is always making money out of misery somewhere, and I think you''re on to something with the tangerine twat...

Anyway, that is a VERY splendid picture of that orange-tip. Your butterfly sneaking-up-on and iPhone photography skills must be top notch. I'm already looking forward to seeing some Devon cloudless skies. At night!

    1. Mr Devine - Things must be sour if even I'm getting vaguely political!

Those Orange-Tipped butterflies are so pretty. I wanted it to open its wings like yours did, but it wouldn't. I shall learn my proper camera - maybe the butterflies will take me more seriously then!

  2. I'm still getting confused whether you are running two almost identical blogs...

Anyhow, the "tangerine twat" annoys me all the time, no matter what he says or does or on what subject. I try not to let it get to me, though - life's too short.

The forecast for London is showing decent temperatures all week again - I hope that tropical Devon gets a bit warmer, too. I don't want you wearing-out yet another pair of mittens, punching the telly! 😜 Jx

    1. Jon - Apologies for the confusion! I do it for a multitude of reasons, but mostly because of photo quality, and allowing Mistress MJ to comment on whatever I'm wittering on about!
I agree, life is too short, but I'd still recommend putting some extra money by for future fuel bills.
Yep, glorious sunshine this morning, thank goodness!

  3. Bugger! (That should cover most annoyances for starters!)
I saw a butterfly on your Blogger site which came up in my email. But this one didn't. And other Wordpress sites are not showing images. What the bejeezlehoop???!@#$*&*

    1. Dinah - I have no idea what's going on with the pictures! But yes, the Tangerine Twat is also a bugger.

  4. I'm so pleased that you published on this blog as it's the only one I seem to be able to manage to leave comments on without going berserk.

p.s. I am offended on behalf of the colour orange at having to be associated with that unpolished turd.

    1. Ms Mistress - I agree! I like an occasional plumped cushion in a bright shade of orange, and this colour should not be used as a skin tone!
There is enough berserk behaviour in the world - I will do my best to limit any more!

  5. I haven't run out of heating oil, but the massive price hike is shocking - over 100 per cent. I'm with you on manuals, virtually incomprehensible. Like you I read a few paragraphs and my eyes glaze over. But that's a lovely butterfly.

    1. Nick - I will probably not bother filling up with oil until September/October/November - see how the land lies then. Luckily I have solar panels to heat the water - today will be a good solar day! I'm also looking into heat pumps as I'm tired of being reliant on the vagaries of the oil market.
I will get to grips with that camera!!! One day.

  6. I've never liked the colour orange and those who wear orange are often unhinged and highly strung. My iphone 7 has been declared obsolete and is now worthless. I want one like yours that takes amazing photographs, is it possible to go into an Apple store and say I'd like the lastest iphone, pay the money and leave without giving them a chance to go on and on, I'm not usually antisocial but I've caught Covid and keep having funny turns.

    1. Mitzi - I don’t wear orange, but I have orange cushions!
Anyhow, to avoid the lecture in an Apple Store, order your new iPhone from the Apple Store online. Or from John Lewis. Apple may deliver the next day. Mine’s a regular iPhone 14, so I have a few years left before it’s obsolete - I am impressed with the camera.
Ack, Covid. It did weird things to my toenails, which I’m still living with - thick coat of nail varnish in summer and nobody notices. I hope you feel better soon, and I hope the cough isn’t too awful.

  7. Maybe camera has a setting called "Full Auto Mode" ? The rest is play ...
I can wear orange, and also do (shirt, t-shirt, polo thingy), and I do really not care about the rotten blasphemic heretic ruling Trumpistan - there is nothing left to say.
Sorry to learn that your burner run dry. I hope you have enough wood left for the next few cold nights.

    1. Dear Mr Mags, the camera does indeed have a full auto mode - which I use extensively!! But it promises so much more - I just have to understand the instructions!
Yeah, plenty of wood left, I should be fine until November.

  8. Great moniker, "tangerine twat", you gave this dangerous insane White House wrecker. Since he and many of his followers believe global warming is a hoax, it would be only fitting if a hurricane would blow him into oblivion while sat on his golden throne in Florida.
I wish the butterfly picture had shown on this post. I would rather discuss butterflies.

  9. Hello, Bill! Sorry about the no-show picture - I'd rather discuss butterflies, too! The picture is connected to my WordPress blog and I turned it 'Private' to shake off an army of AI bots - hence the photo here vanished.
I blame the Tangerine Twat for the army of bots as well! Bring on the hurricane!!!

  10. Hey I remembered to check back. Your photo is being displayed now. I give high marks to you for figuring out the problem. That is hell of an interesting (an apt description from a non expert) butterfly! It has camouflage wings. Are they common in your area?

    1. Bill - It's always worth coming back! It's an Orange Tipped Butterfly, and I didn't notice it until a friend pointed it out - it is supposed to be common in this part of the world. I should open my eyes more often!
