What?

Has anyone tried Blogger's new beta features? Good heavens, why would I? To 'Create a more engaging reading experience with the help of Google', that's why! I think I'll give it a miss for the time being.

Anyhow, where was I? Stuck in December 2025, wishing it was over. As it's been over for several months I thought I'd post an update, after all I had a birthday yesterday! And Mr Devine published a glorious post in celebration of my passing years! He is correct, it has been very wet in Devon this winter, like living within a slime coated aquarium. It has been gloomy. So gloomy that I have been glued to the sofa watching crime dramas that I can't now recall; Taskmaster; and an entertainment programme with the nutritional value of a fried Mars bar [The Masked Singer]. I think I lost a lot of brain cells this winter.

BUT, in February there was a glimmer of hope when I made a collage! Yay!

Collage and Private Eye caption There, I hope this post is engaging enough? I will try to do better next time. Oh, one more thing, I am thinking of posting a daily photograph on my old WordPress blog as I already use it as a picture library for this blog. I bought a fancy camera a few years ago and never learnt to use it properly. I'm thinking that a commitment to a daily photo may force me to use it. I think I have had this idea before so don't hold your breath!!

  1. This is like living with a split personality... Two blogs in different places, with the same photo, and the same posthumous wedding!

    Aaaaaargh! Jx

PS Hope you had a great birthday, and the slime wears off soon.

    1. Jon - I did indeed have a nice peaceful birthday, thank you for asking. Sorry about the blog confusion! It will work itself out, I'm sure.

  2. What a beautiful bride! I especially love the old style bouquets.

It's nearly spring and you will then be able to recover brain cells

    1. Kylie - She is a lovely bride, just a shame about the absent groom!
Ack, I'm sure the brain cells caused too much overthinking - I'm probably happier without them!

  3. So Georgina didn't realise she had married a corpse? Very careless of her. Surely Uncle Henry should have explained why her husband was so lethargic?

    1. Nick - I think it must have been about tax avoidance, or some such? Who knows? At least Georgina got to wear a nice dress.

  5. I read that as Slowe-educated Phillips, they didn't mince their words in those days, then I realised it meant Stowe.

I'm in contact with my mother via a k2 meter, she's been helping me pick out houses, I lay property brochures out on the table and asked my mother which one I should go for, then hover over them with the machine, it flickered to yellow at a red brick property in Horyford Close, Preston with questionable decor, black carpets, red blinds in the conservatory, brass stair rods and gold taps in the bathroom! She can't be serious.

    1. This one, Mitzi? Nice garden. Naff decor. Mean front windows. Jx

    2. Mitzi - It should have been 'Slowe', that would have been even better!
Mitzi and John - Imagine having a white fluffy dog, or cat, with that carpet! Even without a white pet you would probably feel a desire to vacuum it every day.
I love Rightmove! I save properties for decorating ideas - much cheaper than buying house magazines where I'll only look at the pictures and gasp at the cost. Maybe we could do some Rightmove posts?

    1. Mitzi - I feel your mother doesn't want you to move down south? Maybe that's what she's really saying?

  7. It could be my mother saying buy it BUY IT, she had similar taste in decor, prize bingo parlour foyer meets gypsy caravan chic.

Look at what 400k buys you in Hornsea a place considered desirable, less common than neighbouring Bridlington.

I changed my plans we were going to go to Bexhill but ended up looking at properties inland to the spa town of Buxton "a place that rivals Bath" the inhabitants of Bath have nothing to worry about.

  8. I'm tempted to buy the Hornsea property and open up shop!

  9. Mitzi - I like the Hornsea house - it’s has a calm vibe, and I particularly like the garden.
Is Buxton in Derbyshire? I shall go and explore.

  10. Georgina looks like she's listing to her right. It's definitely her and not your positioning (which is spot on, naturally), as the columns are perfectly vertical. I wonder if she may have had a few to steel herself before wedding the Coldstream Guards corpse?

Oh, and Blogger has beta features? I'll definitely be giving them a miss as I don't want any more engagement - I can barely cope with the few of you who comment now!

P.S. I'll be off to visit your other blog shortly.

    1. Mr Devine - I doubt my positioning is correct! And the right column does look a bit squiffy, although the right one looks okay - maybe they are fibreglass columns?!!
I'm with you re the possibility of more engagement!

  11. How exciting it must have been to get married posthumously!

And a very happy belated birthday!

  12. I will not hold my breath then. Although I had been looking forward to it. OK I want to know how the Coldstream Guard person went on to intriguingly marry someone after he died. WTF.
Also, I hope you had a happy birthday! Of course I missed it. Don't I always? XOO

    1. Ms Steve - I want to know about the Coldstream Guard person too!
It was a quiet birthday, not one to make a fuss about, but thank you!
My photo ramblings are on my old WordPress blog - some of which will end up here.
